A new version of the PINES App for Android and iOS devices has been released this week, and it now includes notification options!
This provides another way for you to receive your hold ready notices and your 3-day reminder notices that does not rely on SMS text or email services.
When you update to the latest version, you will be asked if you would like to receive notifications from the app. (You may also enable or disable this option in your phone settings.) If the update is not downloaded automatically, you may download it manually by going into the app store and searching for PINES (Georgia).
Comments closed10:15 am: There appear to be network issues at our hosting provider (USG’s ITS) this morning, so you may see connection issues to PINES. We will post an update here as soon as we learn more.
1:50 pm: ITS continues to troubleshoot the system. For the most part we are seeing connectivity, but intermittent slowness.
Comments closedPINES services have been restored.
Comments closedUPDATE 9:15 am: We have word from ITS that they will begin the process of restoring PINES server access this morning. At the minimum, this will take several hours. Once it is complete and tested, we will be able to restore staff and public access.
The event was due to a high-level network hardware failure and has impacted connectivity for all hosted USG services. ITS utilizes a point-in-time backup system, so we have been assured that no data has been lost.
UPDATE 9:25 am: Access to Libby has been restored.
UPDATE 9:30 am: GALILEO access is now available off-site with a temporary password. Please contact your local library for the password.
UPDATE 10:00 am: We have been given permission to publicly post the temporary GALILEO password:
1. Go to: https://galileo.usg.edu
2. Scroll to the “know your password?” box and click the down arrow (see screenshot below).
3. Enter temporary password: aspire
UPDATE: 12:00 pm: PINES services have been restored.
Comments closedPINES remains down today as Information Technology Services (ITS) and the USG Board of Regents leadership work on ways to restore all the services they host across the University System. ITS has identified the root cause of the problem and is actively working on a fix with the vendor, but are not able to provide a time estimate.
PINES libraries remain open with normal hours so you may still check out materials, use the computers, and take advantage of your library’s many other services. However, items may not be renewed or fines paid until full service is restored.
Our colleagues at Georgia Download Destination (GADD) have put in a request to bypass PINES authentication for Libby, so access to Libby may potentially be restored before PINES access is restored.
Although GALILEO is not available with your PINES login at this time, it may still be accessed from within any PINES library.
Comments closedThe PINES catalog is currently offline due to an unforeseen technical issue at our data center. This issue also affects Libby / GADD, The Palace Project app, GALILEO, and several other online services. The IT staff at PINES, the University System of Georgia, and our network providers are working together to bring all services back online.
