Updating Holdings Information in OCLC
As OCLC member libraries, we are obligated to update our holdings information in OCLC’s World Cat bibliographical database in a timely manner for resource sharing purposes. Updating holdings includes adding/attaching holdings for newly acquired items and deleting holdings when the last copy owned by a library system is removed from the library’s collection.
PINES is responsible for updating all its member libraries’ holdings via a batch-loading project with OCLC on a monthly basis.
Individual library systems are responsible for deleting holdings from the OCLC database when the system’s last copy of a title is removed from the PINES database.
For more information, see Deleting Holdings in OCLC.
