I. Call to order.

III. Reading and approval of the minutes of the February 13, 2008 Executive Committee meeting.

Motion to approve – Donna Howell.
Motion seconded – Carolyn Fuller.
Approved unanimously.

Pre-overdue notice wording
    Reminder from Elizabeth McKinney that the motion is to approve the wording of the notice.
    Donna Howell suggested “library card barcode”.
    Reminder that notices will only be going out by e-mail.
    Motion to approve (as amended) – Carolyn Fuller.
    Motion seconded – Nancy Tillinghast.
    Approved unanimously.
LONGOVERDUE – PINESwide or local decision?
    Motion to accept the subcommittee recommendation – Donna Howell.
    Motion seconded – Lois Roberts.
    Approved unanimously.
Change pick up library
    Motion to accept the subcommittee recommendation – Lisa Rigsby.
    Motion seconded – Carolyn Fuller.
    Note from Claire Leavy in support of the recommendation.
    Approved unanimously.
Proposal to allow PINES holds for AV material
    Much discussion, with a suggestion from Elizabeth McKinney to explore alternatives for delivery, modified mailers, voluntary (“opt-in”) participation.  Suggestion that this is something PINES ought to do to maintain customer-friendly philosophy.
    Motion to accept the subcommittee recommendation (“No”) at this time – Lisa Rigsby.
    Motion seconded (with caveat to explore options) – Donna Howell.
    Approved unanimously.
New Circ modifier
    Discussion of checkout procedure to check out Park Passes.  There will be two items per branch, plus ten reserve copies to be held at GPLS.  There will be a presentation from the Department of Natural resources on May 17th.  An item record will be created for PINES, and publicity/signage will be made available through DNR and GPLS.
    Further discussion and a suggestion of an increased fine for the items to equal the daily parking fee ($3.00).  The circulation modifier can also be applied to other promotional items (ex. Museum/orchestra tickets).
    Motion to create the EVENTPASS circulation modifier with the following qualifiers:  Not Hold-able; 7 day checkout, renewable once; $30.00 replacement fee; $3.00 per day overdue fine – Lisa Rigsby.
    Motion seconded – Marsha Christy.
    Motion passed.  [Vote – 7 Yes, 1 No (Carolyn Fuller – with the comment that this was an unfunded mandate, detracting from a library’s stated mission.)]
